Types of User
There are 5 user roles available in Pedagogue:
- System administrator
- Project administrator
- Publisher
- Content author
- Viewer
What you can access and the functions you can perform when you enter Pedagogue are dependent on your role in particular projects. This is worth noting as you read through these help files.
The 5 types of user are defined below.
Viewer
A viewer is able to:
- Gain access to projects that they have been assigned a viewer role in
- View the project files relating to that/those projects
- Preview pages, page sets and assets relating to that/those projects
Content Author
A content author inherits the permissions available to a viewer and in addition is able to:
- Add folders
- Edit folders
- Delete folders
- Create pages (including adding/editing/deleting/previewing content blocks)
- Edit pages
- Delete pages
- Create page sets (including adding/editing/removing pages in a page set)
- Edit page sets
- Delete page sets
- Add assets
- Edit assets
- Delete assets
Publisher
A publisher inherits the permissions available to a content author and viewer and in addition is able to:
- Package and download page sets
Project Administrator
A project administrator inherits the permissions available to a publisher, content author and viewer and in addition is able to:
- Assign user roles
System Administrator
A system administrator inherits the permissions available to a project administrator, publisher, content author and viewer and in addition is able to:
- Add users to Pedagogue
- Edit users
- Delete users
- Access all projects
Note: All users can create projects. A user who creates a project automatically becomes the project administrator for that project.
